Started in Safari? Your data there doesn’t come over by itself. Bring it here with the backup file you saved, or your cloud backup.
Free, with no sign-up and no bank login. Ramen to Runway never holds or moves your money.

Practice lab
Learn how investing works with pretend money at real prices, and see how you compare with just buying an S&P 500 fund. Nothing here touches your real accounts, net worth, or taxes.
Learn by doing, risk-free
Pick an amount of pretend money, then buy and sell stocks, funds, crypto, and options at real prices. See how you’d do, and how you compare with just buying an S&P 500 fund.
Practice trades use the latest price and have no fees. Real apps fill orders at slightly different prices.
Place a practice trade
Practice only: real options trading requires being 18 or older and a broker’s approval. Options can lose all their value fast, and many expire worthless, which is why practice is the place to learn them.
Options are the riskiest thing in the Practice lab. Take the two-minute Options 101 lesson first, then try them here.

How this is calculated
Planning estimate only, not tax advice. It excludes credits, AMT, and other special situations. State tax uses the state you pick in Settings. Check the Form 8949 export against your 1099-B before filing.

Choose the cost-basis method your brokerage actually uses. Changing it here changes the estimate, not how your broker reports your sales.
Import trades from a CSV file
Most apps let you download your history as a CSV file: Robinhood, Fidelity, Schwab, Webull, Coinbase, and others. Drop it here and you’ll see every row before anything is saved.
or
Buys, sells, dividends, splits, crypto converts, sends and receives, staking rewards, and options (when the row names the contract) are imported. Cash deposits and withdrawals, unfilled orders, and rows you already have are skipped. Received coins get their value on arrival as an estimated cost, so edit them if you know what they cost. Dividends count as ordinary unless the row says qualified.
The button at the top of the app switches between these too.
Safe to spend until Friday: $142. Rent is covered.
Reminders
A daily nudge to keep your streak going, plus alerts for bills and free trials. Reminders show what’s due on your device; the server never learns amounts.
App lock
Ask for Face ID, your fingerprint, or your phone’s passcode each time the app opens, so someone holding your unlocked phone can’t see your money. It hides the app; it doesn’t encrypt your data.

Backup and your data

Exports open in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers, so your records are yours to keep.
Linked-account data is fetched only after you authorize it, and it isn’t stored by the app’s server.
Estimates for learning and planning only. Ramen to Runway isn’t financial, investment, or tax advice, and it isn’t affiliated with any brokerage or exchange. Its numbers are only as complete as what you record.
What the tax estimate covers
- 2026 federal tax brackets and the standard deduction
- The smaller standard deduction when someone claims you as a dependent
- Short-term and long-term rates, with qualified dividends taxed like long-term gains
- The 3.8% net investment income tax
- The $3,000 yearly limit on losses, and carrying the rest into later years
- Wash sales between accounts in this app
- Your state’s 2026 rate: exact for states with no income tax or one flat rate, and the rate you enter for states with brackets
What it leaves out
- Tax credits, the alternative minimum tax, and itemized deductions
- The kiddie tax at a parent’s rate: the app warns you but doesn’t calculate it
- Wash sales involving options, IRAs, or other people’s accounts
- Local taxes, and state rules beyond one flat rate
Rules and numbers change; irs.gov has the latest.
- Prices come from Yahoo Finance and CoinGecko through this site’s server, and can be delayed. Crypto prices: Powered by CoinGecko.
- Tax figures come from the IRS’s 2026 inflation adjustments (Revenue Procedure 2025-32), checked September 30, 2026.

Everything Ramen to Runway can do, grouped by when you’d need it.
Pick what you want help with. Today puts these first, and everything else stays one tap away in All tools.
Hi, I’m Anthony Fahim.
Ramen to Runway started as a tool I built to see my real investing profit, after every fee and tax. Most money apps either want your bank password or skip investing entirely. So I made one that shows what you can safely spend, keeps your data on your phone, and teaches the rest as you go.
I built it as a student, for students.
How it’s paid for
Ramen to Runway is free to use. Later, an optional paid plan may add extras; everything free today stays free.
It costs little to run because your money data stays on your phone. The server only looks up prices, keeps encrypted backups for people who turn them on, and sends Contact us messages.
What it never does
- Ask for your bank password.
- Show ads, sell your data, or track what you do.
- Hold, trade, or move your money. It only records and estimates.
- Lock your records in. Export your money and trades to a spreadsheet anytime.
If the app ever goes away
Your records live on your phone, not on our server, so they don’t disappear with it. Export them to a spreadsheet or save a backup file from Backup and your data.
Where the numbers come from
- Federal taxes: IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32, for tax year 2026. Checked September 30, 2026.
- State taxes: the Tax Foundation’s 2026 table, updated for 2026 laws in Georgia and Utah.
- Prices: Yahoo Finance and CoinGecko, which can be delayed.
- Colleges: the U.S. Department of Education’s college list (IPEDS).

With cloud backup (easiest)
- On this phone, turn on cloud backup and keep your recovery code somewhere safe.
- On the new phone, open Ramen to Runway and choose Restore from cloud backup.
- Type your recovery code. Everything comes back, encrypted until it reaches your phone.
With a backup file
- On this phone, save a backup file, or send it straight to the new phone by AirDrop, email, or a message to yourself.
- On the new phone, open Ramen to Runway, then Settings, then Backup and your data, and choose Restore backup.
On an iPhone, add the app to the new phone’s Home Screen too, so Safari doesn’t clear it.
Running short happens to a lot of students. These are the places that can help, starting with the ones that act fastest.
Something due soon
- Call before the due date, not after. Many landlords, phone companies, and colleges offer a payment plan or a few extra days if you ask first.
- Pause a subscription or two in Bills & budget, and collect what friends owe you in Splits.
At your school
- Ask the financial aid office about emergency grants or short-term loans. Many colleges set money aside for this.
- Many campuses run a free food pantry for students.
- Add your school on the School tab to get links for yours.
If your aid isn’t enough
If your family’s income changed, from a layoff, medical bills, or a death in the family, your aid office can review your aid. Ask about special circumstances. More options from studentaid.gov ↗
Food help (SNAP)
College students enrolled at least half-time can get SNAP if they meet its income rules and one exemption, such as working at least 20 hours a week or having a work-study job. If most of your meals come from a campus meal plan, you can’t. The rules for students ↗
Help near you

Be careful with
Payday loans and cash-advance apps. Their fees and tips can cost far more than they seem, and the money is due again on your next payday.
Ramen to Runway is a free money app for students. It answers one question first: how much is safe to spend before the next paycheck, with the bills covered. It also tracks savings goals, school costs, and, when they’re ready, investing.
What happens to your student’s data
- Everything stays on their phone. There are no accounts, ads, or tracking.
- It never asks for a bank password, and it can’t move money.
- You see only what they choose to share.
Ways to help
- If you give an allowance, they can add it as money coming in (Earned → Allowance) and set it to repeat. It counts like a paycheck for Safe to spend.
- Before a big purchase, ask what their Safe to spend number says.
- Try the Practice lab together: pretend money at real prices, compared with just buying an S&P 500 fund.
- The money lessons take a few minutes each and end with one question.
Share a snapshot

Start from your Home Screen
Safari deletes a website’s data after 7 days without a visit. Apps on your Home Screen are safe from that.
First, save a copy. The Home Screen app starts empty, so take your data with you.
Saved to Files, in Downloads. Next, add the app.
Your cloud backup is up to date too, so your recovery code works as well.
- 1. Tap Share at the bottom of Safari. It’s the square with an arrow pointing up.
- 2. Tap Add to Home Screen. Scroll down the list if you don’t see it.
- 3. Tap Add, then open Ramen to Runway from your Home Screen and set up there.
Then open Ramen to Runway from your Home Screen, tap Bring my data from Safari, and choose the backup file from Downloads.
